Unplanned post, uh oh

Hey,

Trying to stall on doing work. All these classes I've listed below, as interesting as they are, have an intense amount of reading. Like...intense. Tomorrow, I have to discuss about Scarlet Letter, and I can't even fall back on having read it in high school because that was the one thing ever that I never finished reading... (Sorry, Ms. Shockey...) I'm not even clear on what happens at the end. Anyone wanna fill me in?

In addition to that, I have another novel course in which I am unbelievably behind. I need to start dedicating a couple hours each night to doing nothing but reading.

Last week, I dissected a cane toad... Believe it or not, the only other thing I had ever dissected was that squid in second grade. We had to find the ink sac. And then they cooked it, and I ate a piece.
Since cane toads are poisonous, we skipped this last step.
But, half the class dissected rats... Quite different. And much stinkier on the inside, believe me.
I started out with a rat (I named her Sheila). I examined her teeth (with difficulty). I identified her clitoris (with difficulty). But when I found out that I'd have to cut her open, I switched to toad. Much better choice, especially since it was a male toad. The females are the ones you really have to worry about. First of all, they're like twice the size. Second, they're twice the size because they're full of black, gooey, repulsive (I'll stop there) egg sac shit. My task was not so bad after all. It was kind of interesting, even.

I preferred the toad for two reasons: 1.) "Not poor little Sheila!" and 2.) because cane toads are pests in Australia--they are not indigenous; they eat everything that the indigenous animals need, and their poison kills the predators that eat cute, little, Australian frogs. So...no sweat. It's like I'm doing the ecology a service. The poor rats on the other hand--and I feel it is appropriate to remind you just how smelly they are on the inside.

I had to draw a picture of the inside of a rat (Melvin)--I got full marks.

Talk to y'all soon.

Miles
