End Term 1

Again, it's been too long, my babies. Sorry 'bout that.

Anyway, I just this last Thursday turned in my final assignment for the semester. Woot! See how that goes.

I wrote a pop culture analysis on the film Walkabout. It's way good. You should check it out. It's like a legit good movie (one of Ebert's favorites, if that means anything to you), but no one knows about it because it is Australian and old. And not many Aussies know about it either because it is from a British director. And it's old...

Be aware, though--if you watch the ad, there's some insensitive and un-pc language. Also, it's misleading--it says things like, "The aborigine [sic] and the girl--30,000 years apart...together." For one thing, it should read, "The Aboriginal boy and the white girl..." and for another, not only do most scientists agree that Aboriginal people have been here much longer (like 60,000 years), Aboriginal people believe they have been here 'forever', since time immemorial. Quantifying the time discredits that belief system and culture, which is not cool.

Little lesson for y'all ;D

Now, I look forward to finals: LOGIC-- 17 June; SHAKESPEARE--22 June; and AUST LIT--24 June.
Then it's pack and board a plane for LA 25 June, which will allow me to get to New Mexico for the family reunion only a day and a half late (out of three). C'est la vie.

After the reunion, I will be in LA for a couple weeks, returning to Australia for Term 2 on 11 July. This means, if you love me and you wanna hang out that you gotta let me know. For starters, why don't you make a comment here!

  3. You are about to be in L.A. I can't believe that you are going to be so much closer, yet still so far away; milesaway, in fact. Maybe one day soon, we will meet at the same place in the world. Until then, I will have to read about your adventures and try and picture you tickling a cute, but deadly, platypus. Cheers! I'll be thinking of you.
